Copa America 2020 Postponed to the year 2021 amid Corona fear

This year’s Copa America has been postponed to 2021 due to the Covid-19 (Corona Virus) outbreak all over the world. According to the decision made by CONMEBOL, outh America’s regional international competition, has been postponed until the summer of 2021.

The Copa America 2020 was all scheduled to kick off at the El Monumental on June 12 with Argentina taking on Chile in the opener. But due to the Corona virus, which is effecting the whole world obliged the association to make this bold decision. The decision just came after the postponement of UEFA Euro Cup 2020 to 2021.

The football activities are all but paused all over the world which also saw few players testing positive to the Corona Virus test. Europe has been hit hard by the virus and majority of the South American players play Club football in Europe.

The Copa America 2020 was set to be held in Argentina and Colombia. As per the decision made, the tournament will now begin on June 11, 2021 and conclude on July 10, 2021. However, The groups, teams and format will remain the same.

Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Uruguay, Chile and Paraguay make up Group A. Colombia, Brazil, Qatar, Venezuela, Ecuador and Peru make up Group B. Australia and Qatar are the invited guests for this edition of the tournament.
