Nepal and Malaysia are very familiar opponents in world Cricket. They have played several times in One-day formats in various tournaments. However, they have met in limited times in the shortest format of the game.
Nepal and Malayasia had met just four times in T20 format with the first meeting being in 2007, ACC Twenty 20 Cup in Kuwait City. Nepal had defeated Malaysia by 21 runs in that match.
Similarly, the second meeting was in 2009, in the same tournament of different editions. That was held in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates (UAE). That match was won by Malaysia by 6 wickets. Similarly, in 2013, in the ACC Twenty20 Cup held at Kathmandu, Nepal had defeated Malaysia by 19 runs. After that, Nepal and Malaysia didn’t play in this format for almost 5 years as Nepal rose quite above the Malaysian side with Nepal playing the Twenty20 World Cup 2014 in Bangladesh.
The last meeting between these two sides was on the first round of the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers, i.e. Asian Eastern Sub Regional Qualifier (Bayuemas). Nepal had defeated Malaysia easily by 8 wickets in that match.
