Host Brazil secured their space in the semi-final of Copa America 2019 s they beat Paraguay in nail-biting contest today at Arena do Grêmio. Brazil defeated Paraguay 4-3 in the shoot-out to reach the top four.
In the match, that saw quite a few drama ended in goalless draw in the regulation time. Both teams had a slow start. However, early in the second half, Brazil were awarded with a penalty. Firmino was pulled down by Balbuena as he tried to collect the pass from Gabriel Jesus. However, the decision was ruled out by VAR and Balbuena was shown red card.
With one man down, Paraguay held hard to direct the match towards spot kick battle. Paraguay’s Gustavo Gomez had his first penalty saved. Similarly, Firmino missed for the host to make it level on 3-3 after taking 4-4 penalties each.
